Soil Stabilisation

Any type of Soil. Any Environment. Any Load.

What is Geocell

Geocells are 3D honeycombs structure of polymeric strips filled with any infill material such as sand, recycled asphalt, local soils and any inferior material.

How does it work

This cellular confinement system prevents movement of infill and distributes loads over a wide area – which increases the strength and stiffness of a structure. This makes geocells an ideal solution for all types of soil stabilization and ground reinforcement.

Different geocells may appear similar – but it’s their material which will determine their performance

There are 2 main types of geocells:

  1. Soft Cells - Short Term:
  2. Tough Cells® - Long Term:

Geocells are a strong and stiff nano-polymer designed to sustain static and dynamic loading over time, without any deformations.

  • Reduces road subgrade layers by up to 70%
  • Low Permanent Deformation (Creep) - elongation max <3% at the end of the design life
  • Reduces asphalt layer by up to 35%.
  • Cell tensile strength - maintains geocell geometry under loading
  • Reduces maintenance cycles by a factor of 7.
  • Fast Installationin any environment.

Gabions Box & Mattress

Box Gabions

Box gabion is a rectangular prismatic structure made in double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh coated in heavily galvanization or zinc-aluminum alloy and / or plastic polymer according to the degree of environmental aggressiveness. The hexagonal mesh that forms the structure type is 8x10.

Gabions are widely used

  • in the construction of retaining walls,
  • in the consolidation and conservation of slopes
  • in the consolidation and conservation of road and rail soil
  • in architecture.

They consist of metal sheets assembled together in the production phase, then folded, pressed and packed in packages.

Gabions are filled on site with stones of a suitable size, preferably river pebbles or quarry stones compact and resistant.

Metal Matresses

The mattress is a rectangular prismatic structure made in double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh coated in heavily galvanization or zinc-aluminum alloy and / or plastic polymer according to the degree of environmental aggressiveness. It has a parallelepiped shape, with small thickness - cm 16-23-30-50, divided into multiple cells (pockets) such to form a cellular structure diaphragmed with the function to increase the hydraulic functionality and the robustness.

Mattresses are mainly used in the protection of channels, in the realization of works for hydraulic protection (protection of banks of rivers and streams) and for the protection and defense of embankments subject to water erosion.

Coatings made with mattresses are able to adapt to any situation and geometries, they create a solid structure and at the same time not extremely rigid which enables to follow the morphological changes of the slope on which it is applied.

Erosion and physiological movements constantly modify river banks, therefore a compact structure would lose grip and would produce excessive resistance.
